This exploratory project constitutes from on-line survey (PhD Design JICCMAIL list) investigating current quality of the supervision meetings and the workshop. The workshop investigated what make successful PhD supervision meeting(s); what are the challenges that prevent that; and what are possible solutions for more successful supervision meetings in the future. Used empathic approach enabled exchanging experiences between PhD candidates and a supervisor and acknowledging challenges on both sides. Workshop revealed issues like importance of communication, PhD student’s understanding actions; time management skills etc. While survey showed among others that the number of supervision meetings can vary from twice per year to regular weekly meetings, but they were less positive about supervision absence and lack of interest in candidate’s PhD theme.
