BSBD project Co-design intervention to increase physical exercise in Doncaster

2012-13

 

Project aimed to increased physical activity and sense of well-being at local population focusing on better use of Lakeside green space in Doncaster (South Yorkshire). Project harness the collaborative use of outdoors, accessible and peaceful settings to encourage people for more physical activities. Project brought together several stakeholders like physical activity public health team, research lead and project support offices. As a part of BSBD project UCHD team provided mentorship with expertise in design and health to identify and develop health service design adapted to the needs of healthcare services. The output of this project was innovative but pragmatic solution of series of trails around the Lake using QR codes and embedded posts, which encourage visitors to exercise, learn, relax and enjoy the space. Via QR codes the visitors can access a verities of circuit trials online depending on their interest e.g., activities for families. UCHD team assisted Doncaster team to unlock their creativity and focus on solution driven outputs by managing potential conflicting situations among diverse stakeholders.
